Daul Kim, so calm on the outer side and so tormented from inside opened her blog and wrote “SAY HI TO FOREVER” for a track titled “I go deep” and regarded the song as best ever. Reportedly she committed suicide afterwards. She was 20 years old and as I saw her, Model diaries for New York MAG, she seemed so carefree and cheerful.
However during the tape Daul Kim reveals that she has been reading “Hadji Murad” by Tolstoy and complained that as she tell people that she has been reading Tolstoy they mistake it for “Toy Story”. As I heard her words I found myself thinking, “Why on earth would a 20-year-old successful model read Tolstoy?”
Her suicide made me wish that I could have guessed her inner torments and an Anna Karenina within, perhaps I could have written something on her blog that would have made a difference in her life.
We all fancy the fame and popularity, yet the limelight comes with a very pricy tag. Almost every model and actress has to maintain double personalities. A persona on the catwalk where the model looks like oozing sex. The facial expressions all set to kill. Scantily clad with thousands of eyes fixed on ever move of body, and another out of the catwalk persona where the models know that they are very alone and as soon they would cross 25 or 26 threshold, they would have only drugs and alcohol to themselves and not to mention the constant stress of maintaining the pencil thin figures.
We love you Daul Kim. May you rest in peace.
